European Delegation’s visit to Iran: A major step forward economic breakthroughs
An EU high-ranking delegation led by EU foreign policy Chief, Federica Mogherini met Iranian Parliament Speaker Dr. Ali Larijani in Tehran on Saturday, 16 April 2016.
Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani expressed hope that the European delegation’s visit to Iran can make a profound impact on economic cooperation. Also, he called for lifting barriers to int’l banking ties with Iran.
The execution of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) hinges upon removal of the West’s sanctions against Islamic Republic of Iran so as to promote our economic activities, he added.
A senior lawmaker, Dr. Ali Larijani stressed on the importance of sustainable security in the region and further stated that world countries are plagued with vicious scourge of terrorism.
EU foreign policy Chief, Federica Mogherini, for her part expressed interest in visiting Iran to enhance bilateral ties. Also, she pointed to pivotal roles of the two parliaments to boost EU- Iran economic relations.
With respect to the EU and Iran’s lots of efforts have gone into making the nuclear deal a success and given the fact that Iran has fulfilled all obligations under the nuclear agreement, we hope that other party as Islamic Republic of Iran complies with its obligations under JCPOA.
Also, she warned against separatism and further pointed to the national reconciliation as a key factor to resolve regional crises.
Praising Iran’s role in Iraq, she underscored the need to establish sustainable regional security. She also expressed hope that Iran can play a leading role in Syria and Yemen.
EU representative further expressed readiness to strengthen closer cooperation with Iran to promote a stable and secure region, particularly in Lebanon and Afghanistan. Hence, she called for Int’l collective efforts to uproot terrorism so as to keep peace and security all over the world.
